

Chapter Spotlight: Belle Chasse HOSA
On Friday October 28, 2016, Ted Andressen ,from the hit A&E show Nightwatch, came to visit Belle Chasse HOSA members. He spoke to members about his life and experience as an EMT-P in the city of New Orleans. He also raised awareness to mental health & NAMI and how they are working together to open new mental health clinics around the city for those in need.

On November 3, Thirteen Belle Chasse HOSA members were invited to LSU Health Science Center for an amazing day of learning! They were able to work hand & hand with the medical students and staff. Chapter Spotlight: Kenner Discovery
October 24 – 28, 2016. It is Red Ribbon Week at Kenner Discovery HOSA. This week was eventful. Our school had a week long awareness of drug abuse. We paid a dollar to join in on a week’s worth of activities. Monday, we dressed up as superheroes to represent us fighting against drugs. Tuesday, we did twin day because friends should support each other and not do drugs. Wednesday was pajama day because we all woke up drug free! Thursday was hat day- to say we put a “cap” on dru


Chapter Spotlight: St. Paul's School
During October, St. Paul’s HOSA Wolves decided to take on the task of raising money for the local Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. The Wolves sold cupcakes and cookies and 100% of the donations were given straight to Mary Bird Perkins as a part of their Geaux Pink program. The wolves raised over $100 and were very pleased with the willingness of students to donate to a good cause.

On September 30, 2016, during their SCOPE (Science Career Opportunities and Partnership Experience) class, Kenner Discovery HOSA members were given the opportunity to hear from one of their P.E. teachers. It might not sound big, but this coach is a caregiver of the famous Saint’s player, Steve Gleason. The coach talked about ALS and how it affects the body. Chapter Spotlight: Belle Chasse HOSA
On October 5, 2016, four Belle Chasse HOSA members were invited to attend the Plaquemines Parish Medical Panel. This panel included teachers, administrators, doctors, and other medical professionals. During the panel, HOSA members asked questions, gave student input, and were able to network with other medical professionals regarding their medical pathway curriculum for the 2017-2018 school year.
