American Stroke Association is Looking for Ideas for F.A.S.T. Song

The American Stroke Association is looking for ideas for their F.A.S.T. Song.

Louisiana HOSA Chapters are encouraged to put together their own videos singing the F.A.S.T. song. All Chapters who submit a video will be given HOSA Cup points and their video will be submitted to the American Stroke Association.

F.A.S.T. is an easy way to remember the signs of a stroke:

F: Face Drooping

A: Arm Weakness

S: Speech Difficulty

T: Time to Call 911

Looking for ideas to activate around the FAST song, but don’t know any musicians?

  • Church and music often go hand-in-hand. Work with Power Sunday churches and/or engage Power To End Stroke ambassadors or Most Powerful Voices participants to sing the F.A.S.T. song and perform it in church.

  • Many youth market schools/districts may have outstanding and talents band and choral programs.

  • If you’ve hired a band for a fundraising event invite them to “give back” by singing the F.A.S.T. song.

  • Recruit a local Fraternity or Sorority

  • Drop off a demo for your local musicians – dueling piano bar players, coffee shop regulars, Subway entertainers—the F.A.S.T. song is for everyone! (Record your recruitment efforts and you could turn that into a music video if all else fails!)

  • A F.A.S.T. song music or dance video is a fun engagement opportunity for leadership or volunteer committees and staff offices. Will the CEO of your local Fortune 500 sing a line? Will a stroke advocate lip-sync on the capitol steps? Will your board of directors act the stroke signs? Will your GRFW Passion Committee do a line dance? Will a group of red hat survivors each sing a line?

  • Find a volunteer who knows music editing software and auto tune your volunteers “singing” the song!

  • Give the sheet music to someone who can play an instrument and record them

  • Ask someone who knows sign language to “sing” it and add close caption lyrics.
